Pitam Poudel turns ideas into software people use every day.

I was born in 2001 in the peaceful village of Saipu, Ramechhap, Nepal. My journey to becoming a software engineer is one of resilience, curiosity, and a passion for technology.

After finishing school in 2016, I wasn’t sure what to do next. Following my father’s advice, I chose to study science, but it didn’t feel right for me. Despite working hard, I didn’t pass the exams. At that time, I had no experience with computers or any knowledge of software engineering. My father dreamed of me becoming an engineer, even though neither of us knew what software engineering actually was. It was only when my father received a laptop as a gift, while I was in class 11, that I touched a computer for the very first time.

I never planned to become a software engineer. One day, I came across a YouTuber talking about building Android apps using no-code tools and earning money through ads. That caught my interest, and I started exploring the world of Android development. With no background in tech and limited resources, I taught myself how to code through YouTube and other online platforms. I spent countless hours learning on my own, and that effort became the foundation of my journey.

In January 2021, I started an internship at Dynamic Technosoft Pvt. Ltd. in Kathmandu. My dedication quickly turned into a full-time opportunity, where I gained hands-on experience and sharpened my skills.

Although I was growing professionally, I still wanted to complete my education. In March 2021, I again enrolled in a +2 program at the same school where I had finished my earlier studies. I balanced work and study, prepared for exams on my own, and successfully completed the program.

As my experience grew, I took on more responsibility at Dynamic Technosoft and led several major projects, including a school management system used by over 500+ schools in Nepal and India. I also expanded my professional experience by taking on foreign projects through platforms like Upwork.

In December 2022, I joined the Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) program at Tribhuvan University. Even though I already had strong practical skills, I saw the value of earning a formal degree to support my career growth.

Along the way I grew into a senior engineer, driven by steady self-improvement and a genuine love for building things. If my story shows anything, it is that adaptability and persistence matter more than where you start.

Mobile development was only the beginning. Over time I deliberately expanded beyond apps: building backend services with Kotlin, Ktor, and Spring, creating web frontends with Next.js and React, and taking ownership of the operations side — CI/CD pipelines, Docker, cloud deployments, domain and DNS management, and email infrastructure. Today I can take a product from an idea to a running, maintained system without handing anything off.

Today I run Vardan Soft, my own software company, where I am building bolnepage.com, and I co-founded GoDaan, Nepal’s first dedicated crowdfunding platform, connecting donors with verified medical, education, and community causes. I work primarily with Kotlin, MongoDB, Kotlin Multiplatform, Spring Boot and Next.js, always exploring new ways to solve problems and create impactful software.

In 2026 I was invited to judge Reliance International Academy's student hackathon, which was a proud moment: reviewing young developers' projects and giving them feedback is a way to give back to the path that shaped me.

My goal is to make a meaningful contribution to Nepal by helping to digitalize my country and improve people's lives through technology.

In my free time, I enjoy playing multiplayer games with friends. I believe in staying adaptable, continuously learning, and pursuing my passions in the ever-changing world of technology.
